I have thoroughly enjoyed. To see another meet up of India and Pakistan. As a spectator of sub-continent it is my hobby like to watch India Pakistan cricket matches as I know the energy involved at there and set up created .

When it was told I will be in Punjab my next request was are we going closer to Pakistan Border?

My friends told we are going inside of Pakistan .wow.. Without VISA? I know how many questions it is asked when you fill a Visa request form if you are Pakistani origin and want to enter India and vise-versa.

  • Well my Google maps showed I was in Pakistan,
  • My Mobile roaming sent me messages indicating I am in Pakistan while still I have not crossed the border.
  • Time Zone in my phone shown as half an hour ahead in Pakistan time zone

This ceremony takes place every evening immediately before sunset at the Hussainiwala/Ganda Singh Wala border near Firozpur., which as part of the Grand Trunk Road was the only road link between these two countries before the opening of the Aman Setu in Kashmir in 1999. The ceremony starts with a blustering parade by the soldiers from both sides, and ends up in the perfectly coordinated lowering of the two nations’ flags. It is called the Beating Retreat border ceremony on the international level

One infantryman stands at attention on each side of the gate. As the sun sets, the iron gates at the border are opened and the two flags are lowered simultaneously. The flags are folded and the ceremony ends with a retreat that involves a brusque handshake between soldiers from either side, followed by the closing of the gates again.

My note:

  • We saw how soldiers in each side done their actions with lots of respect
  • It was seen the brotherhood and challenging like each side with their best performances
  • Then waving national flags in each side
  • From the crowd they had cheered for every action of soldiers and shown their power and enthusiasm with actions
  • You can see Mahatma Gandhi ‘s and Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s sculptures shown in each sides
  • I really loved the official dress code

Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial

in memory of the Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru

he memorial was built in 1968 and is located 1 km from the border of India and Pakistan border, on the Indian side.

Visit the historical Rail road there

When you are  going to the monuments you can clearly  see remainders of rail road built in between Pakistan and India. Also over the bridge you will see the pedestals of old rail bride

Also  next to  current last railway station it clearly shows end of line .

Visit local market and taste pani puri and many street foods

Hai In India some street foods always deliver.I meant if you have not selected a right place your stomach would respond so badly.

By the way we tried all famous Pani poori in a well-known local seller in Firozpur.

Visit  Gurudwara Saragrahi Sahib

Often called as the Saragarhi Memorial, the gurudwara is a protected monument. The temple was built to pay tribute to the Sikh soldiers who died in the fight against the Pathans. The temple narrates the story of Sikh valor in the battle of Saragrahi. The monument is encircled by many small and big cannons with the names of 21 soldiers inscribed on its walls. The Saragrahi battle is declared by UNESCO as one of the five most significant events of its kind in World History and is a place worth visiting.

The battle has frequently been compared to the Battle of Thermopylae, where a small Greek force faced a large Persian army under Xerxes I in 480 BC. In both cases, a small defending force faced overwhelming odds, fighting to the last man and inflicting an extremely disproportionate number of fatalities on the attacking force.

September 12 is a holiday like there in Punjab and I have visited the place just few days early on September 9th .It is like a religious activity for all Punjabi to honor at this place. The silence they kept in place and serenity just given me much love for the place and the people of the locality and nation .

In popular culture

A TV series, 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897

As of December 2017, there are three Bollywood films being produced regarding the battle:

  • Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi. In July 2016
  • Battle of Saragarhi. In August 2016, Randeep Hooda
  • In October 2017, Karan Johar announced

When you say you visit India we mainly talk about either golden triangle or Kashmir and some small set of monuments. But India is so BIG for travel options. So many places to visit, so many different foods to taste; Even simply with same Biryani you can find 30  to 40 different variations with different tastes .

So many different cultures, languages differently sounds .when you visit north of India they are not familiar of a south Indian face. They recognize me as a south Indian; My Language as a part of them (of course it is)

Getting Into India Pakistan border and enjoy area was a dream in my plans and came true in more folds this time .this write up would give you some insight on real relationship they have and how much people of both parties enjoy and love those meet ups .
